Polyglycolic Acid (PGA) Surgical Sutures are absorbable braided synthetic sutures providing robust initial tensile strength with predictable hydrolytic absorption over 60–90 days. Composed of homopolymer polyglycolic acid, these sutures offer excellent knot security and handling characteristics comparable to natural absorbable materials with more consistent performance. PGA sutures are commonly selected for subcutaneous closure, muscle and fascia approximation, and gynecological procedures where extended wound support during early healing phases is clinically important. Available in standard USP sizes with coated surfaces for reduced tissue drag.
